CHARLES C. ROBERTS
Charles
C. Roberts, 80, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Sunday, May 8, 2005, at home.
Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Marion, Ohio, he was the son of Chester C. and
Mildred (Christian) Roberts. He married Mary Eleanor Roberts on Aug. 19,
1950, in Sycamore.
Charlie
graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1942. He served in the U.S.
Navy from 1943 to 1946. He received his Bachelor of Arts from DePauw
University in 1948, and his Master of Business Administration from
Northwestern University in 1949. He worked for Inland Steel in Chicago
from 1949 until 1954. He joined the DeKalb Ag in 1954, and retired 40
years later.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in DeKalb. Charlie
participated in a number of community activities throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Douglas (Lynn) Roberts
of Sycamore, John (Robin) Roberts of Zionsville, Ind., and Ginny (Terry)
Holt of Kenilworth; 13 grandchildren, Sarah, David, Amanda, Allie, Amanda,
Steven, Laura, Jeff, Kelsie, John, Jenna, Charlie and Emily; two brothers,
Frank Roberts of Palo Alto, Calif., and John Roberts of DeKalb; and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St.
Paul's Episcopal Church in DeKalb, with the Rev. Mark A. Geisler
officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore at a later
date. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Anderson
Funeral Home in DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be
sent to the DeKalb County Community Foundation or St. Paul's Episcopal
Church Endowment Fund in memory of Charles C. Roberts.
